Greta in VA

Affectionate active non dog aggressive, non cat aggressive to dog savy cats, prey drive will go after any squirrel or rabbit that crosses her path, female that requires structure and a soft hand to guide her. Greta is a typical Dutchie girl that loves to play fetch with a ball, rope etc, until your arm falls off, play tug-o-war after she has had a chance to settle into her new environment. Greta would do best in a fenced yard and individual that is willing to crate her and have direct path from crate to door without trying to handle Greta until she has emptied her bladder. Greta however does have a slight fault and that is learning to trust and individual behind the leash and will need to have an empty bladder before attaching the leash for a walk. Once the leash is attached Greta is always ready for an adventure and does well in her shy manner meeting anyone that approaches her on the walks including screaming toddlers who stick their hands in her mouth trying to pet her. Greta is known as the neighborhood cuddler as she will lean up against individuals and crawls in their laps for attention if they are sitting on the ground or in a chair. Greta does well when passing other individuals who are enjoying the weather be it on foot and walking or running or by wheel and on a bicycle. Greta is learning that during walks the individual holding the leash is not imposing within her personal space and to come closer when passing others on the path. Greta will come to you when called but maybe slightly excited and be submissive and leave a little gift if her bladder is not empty. Greta has basic manners and will walk on a leash if it's extended, take treats nicely, wait for her food, go to her place, crate, and knows sit. Greta does ride nicely in the car but will chew her leash when left on her so it's best to crate her. Greta has bedding in her crate along with toys and has been respectful to the bedding and not torn it to pieces even if it was already in the beginning destruction stages when provided to her. However Greta does love to destroy toys and chew them to pieces when she is roaming through the house. Greta does take time to be introduced to new environments.

George in IL

George was saved from CACC a little over a month ago and is now ready and looking for his forever home. George is aloof at first, shy but takes petting and tolerates new people. He's not aggressive to strangers, he will avoid them at first. He does prefer women over men but can bond to a male (given time) and can be gentle enough even with a 93 year old man. He would like a quiet home and someone with patience. He is Really smart and at first George is more shy but can be active and loves to chase around a big jolly ball. He can and he will jump on his people, playfully and mouthy, however he is getting better. He was more than likely a kennel dog that has had no socialization. He knows nothing one might expect a 2 year old dog to know, such as stairs, or how to "sit.". George knew nothing! Foster now has him sitting on command and going up stairs, even though goes up awkwardly still. He is destructive when alone so should be crated if not supervised. He is crate trained. There are various toys loose around the house and there are no signs of guarding issues. He does get triggered by very high excitement in other dogs but would be okay with calm dogs in the household. He is housebroken, low drive with medium energy. Kids should be of older age 12 and above. Not that he is aggressive just unsure he would enjoy living with small children. He has a gentle personality with humans and will make someone and incredible companion.

George, adult aprox 2 year old male is altered, 67 pounds, current on vaccines, heartworm negative, free of internal and external parasites, and micro-chipped. He is located in Belvidere IL. If you are interested in adopting this wonderful guy, please fill out our ON-LINE Pre-Adoption application. http://www.dutchshepherdrescue.org/preadoptform_region1.html
