Greta in VA
Hello potential new parent I would like to introduce myself I am Greta and my foster mommy wants to tell you a little about me.
I am an active young female that takes a little time to feel comfortable in new situations. If you meet me with my foster mommy and daddy you would think that I am the typical Dutchie based on how I look at them and ask for attention. I bring them my binky which can be a ball, toy, rope and ask to play, give them a paw, and am the perfect little girl about 90% of the time. I like to bother them when they try to sleep who needs sleep when I want to play and bring them toys and will drop it on their head, feet, hands what ever is visible so they will play with me. If I am put away in my so called bed 'the crate' and I have to go potty or want personal attention I will give out a little bark and continue to chirp a little more until I get their attention.. don't they realize that I don't want to dirty my bed or that the cat is teasing me. Ohh that's right I am non-dog or non-cat aggressive but the cat I live with is very mean to me and chases me if I don't play with him so something about a dog savvy cat is advisable. As I stated it takes me a little bit to get used to new environment so foster mommy thinks that I would be happier with another dog, a fenced yard to play with my friends, a patient person that is structured with a soft hand to guide me. You ask what is a binky? Foster mommy learned that if I had a toy in my mouth that it was easier for me to get introduced into new situations. When I first came to my foster mommy I didn't like to go for walks or rides but that has changed as we get to go on a socialization walk with other doggies and people, go to stores or workshops and have the opportunity to meet new people where I carry my binky and this breaks the ice for me allowing for pets on my back and these little itty bitty pieces of food called treats. When I first meet people I don't like to have them pet my head and give me hugs until I feel comfortable. There are some people that I just like instantly and then please ready for a very fit young girl to get in your lap and give you kisses and snuggle. That reminds me I love to exercise and it makes me feel much better, do you need someone to walk, run and keep you off the couch? Don't worry I like to sleep also on those rainy days especially with a great bone and a soft bed.
I have basic manners and will walk on a leash, take treats nicely, wait for my food, go to my place, crate, and knows sit and still learning down.
I ride nicely in the car in the backseat on a doggie bed, or in a crate.
My foster mommy has bedding in my crate along with toys and has been respectful to the bedding and not torn it to pieces. However, I love to destroy toys and chew them to pieces once they start to tear. I love to chew any type of bone. Once again I take time to be introduced to new environments.
Greta, adult female aprox 18 months to 2 years is spayed, current on vaccines, heartworm negative, free of internal and external parasites, and micro-chipped. She is located in Virginia. If you are interested in adopting this girl, please fill out our ON-LINE Pre-Adoption application.
*****RECOVERED FROM HEARTWORM TREATMENT. READY FOR ADOPTION*****
Zap is aprox a 18-24month old Male DS.
Zap is the Dutch Shepherd that all Dutch Shepherd enthusiasts warn you about.....
Zap, long haired Dutch Shepherd. He was pulled from a high kill shelter and brought into foster care. Unfortunately, he had some health issues, including heartworm, that needed to be treated before he could find his forever home. But now.....he is so ready to make the move to this next phase of life.
Zap is approximately 60 pounds and extremely well muscled and athletic. He has excellent toy and hunt drive, and plays well with tugs. He is an excellent working prospect for a skilled owner/handler. He can be pushy and will do best with strict boundaries. However, he is also extremely affectionate and does not show any human based aggression. Zap does not do well with other dogs or small animals (cats..etc). His personal body awareness is poor and is not suited for a home with children. Zap has great food drive. The ideal home is with an experienced working dog owner who will take the time to bond with him and focus his strong drive productively. Due to his relatively feral start to life, he has had success independently rewarding himself for pushy behavior and he needs an owner/handler that will be able to prevent him from making poor choices. During down time though (when he has had appropriate mental and physical stimulation), Zap is an amazing cuddler and will chill on a dog bed and happily chew a bone.
Katia is a very smart, sweet, laid back, low drive/energy and great house dog. Very loving and loyal. Good with other balanced large dogs. No small dogs or cats. Social with people and children over 8yo.
Katia, adult female aprox 7 year is spayed, current on vaccines, heartworm negative, free of internal and external parasites, and micro-chipped. She is located in Oklahoma. If you are interested in adopting this girl, please fill out our ON-LINE Pre-Adoption application.
Maverick is aprox a one year old Male DS.
A home with Dutch Shepherd or Belgian Malinois experience required.
Maverick is about a year old, high energy, medium to high drive, neutered male. He came to us after spending 3 months in the shelter. He is a giant puppy and still has a lot to learn. He is currently learning sit, place, down, and some basic manners. He is very pushy and will walk all over you given the chance, so an experienced owner would be best for him. He has not had a lot of leash work so he is a puller, but he's learning. He does great with other dogs, both big and small, provided the introduction is taken slowly and with care. I get the feeling he was not exposed to much as a puppy as he is very curious about everything and some things are a little scary, however if he gets the chance to check it out he does not hold a grudge. He loves all people and strangers but again he is all puppy and likes to jump on people so he would do best in a home with older kids. He does not like cats and will need a home with no cats. He loves to play fetch, tug, and run on the treadmill. He is not highly food motivated, but he will work for food if there is nothing better to do. He does seem to always seem to want to work for a Kong or a ball though and has good toy drive. He would do best in an active home or a home where he can participate in dog sports. Due to previous urinary issues, he is currently being raw fed and will need to remain on raw or a high quality grain free kibble.
Maverick, adult male aprox 12 months is neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm negative, free of internal and external parasites, and micro-chipped. He is located in Utah. If you are interested in adopting this guy, please fill out our ON-LINE Pre-Adoption application.
ACTIVE SENIOR NEEDS HOME
Roxi, 10 year old senior female.
NADSR pulled from the Los Angeles CA shelter on Feb 20. She had an owner, was micro chipped and they never came for her! She is now safe in foster.
Roxi is a senior but don't let that fool you. She still has lots of energy for walks and play! She walks very nice on a leash and loves loves loves to play ball. So far she only knows how to sit but we are working on her down and stay... She wants to be by your side and in the thick of things but will settle in her kennel fairly quick if necessary. She loves people and children of all ages and genders. I think she would do best as an only dog, large dogs might be a possibility with very slow and careful introduction. No small dogs and absolutely NO CATS or other small pets.
Roxi loves kids!
Roxi runs fast!
Roxi, adult female aprox 10 years, is spayed, current on vaccines, heartworm negative, free of internal and external parasites, and micro-chipped. She is located in SO California. If you are interested in adopting this lady, please fill out our ON-LINE Pre-Adoption application.
Jenny is a bi-colored MalinoisX.
50 lbs, Jenny is very sweet, loves all people, is low energy, housebroken, crate trained, likes to go travel and is great with kids! Good with other dogs and given her low drive probably okay with cats. Really the perfect package. Jenny does have a short, deformed tail, but that doesn't stop her from waggin' it!
Jenny, young adult female aprox 14 months, is spayed, current on vaccines, heartworm negative, free of internal and external parasites, and micro-chipped. She is located in Northern CA. If you are interested in adopting this young lady, please fill out our ON-LINE Pre-Adoption application.
